1. Industrial Insulation in Egypt

Egypt's industrial base is concentrated along the Nile Delta and the Suez Canal corridor. Key sectors driving calcium silicate demand:

• Cement. Egypt is one of Africa's largest cement producers, with annual production capacity exceeding 80 million tonnes. Major producers include Heidelberg Materials Egypt (formerly Suez Cement), Lafarge Egypt, CEMEX Egypt, and Arabian Cement. Cement plants require calcium silicate for kiln backup insulation, preheater external insulation, and ductwork. The Egyptian cement industry has excess capacity in recent years, but kilns continue to operate and require ongoing maintenance materials including insulation for relines.
• Petrochemical. Egypt has a growing petrochemical sector concentrated in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (Ain Sokhna) and Alexandria. • Iron and steel. Egypt's steel industry is led by Ezz Steel (the largest steel producer in the Middle East and North Africa), Beshay Steel, and Suez Steel. Calcium silicate is used for ladle and tundish backup insulation, reheat furnace lining backup, and EAF roof insulation. The 230 kg/m³ standard board is the most common specification.

• Import duties and taxes: Confirm the applicable HS code (typically 6806.90) and duty rate with your Egyptian customs broker. Egypt applies VAT on imported industrial materials; ensure this cost is included in your project budget.
